Service Description

The Anchorage training April 24 - 26, 2020 will provide specific tools to support participants to facilitate trauma-sensitive movement using forms of hatha yoga and breath practices that are vital to the healing process of complex trauma. ​This training is designed for social workers, activists, mental health clinicians, yoga teachers, educators, and other healthcare professionals who are looking to deepen their understanding of the whole-system impact of complex, intersectional trauma. There are no prerequisites to take this workshop, all are welcome. The $350 fee covers the entire weekend training and materials. FRIDAY 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm SATURDAY 9:00 am - 6:00 pm (1 hr lunch) SUNDAY 12:00 pm - 7:00 pm (1 hr lunch) 20-hour Training: 17 hours in-class, 3 hours independent study This professional training is designed for social workers, activists, mental health clinicians, yoga teachers, educators, other health care professionals and anyone who is looking to deepen their understanding of the whole-system impact of complex, intersectional trauma. Additionally, the training is designed to support professionals in expanding their current practice to incorporate the Evidence Based Practice of Trauma Center-Trauma Sensitive Yoga. Emphasis is placed on how the core components of the practice and process of trauma sensitive yoga are also the building blocks to any anti-oppressive and trauma sensitive work. The training will provide specific tools to support participants to facilitate trauma sensitive movement and breath practices that are vital to the healing process of complex trauma (a.k.a. the many faces of systemic oppression) in personal, professional, community-based or system-wide relationships. Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) is an evidence-based adjunctive treatment for complex trauma or chronic, treatment-resistant Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). TCTSY is the only yoga-based practice endorsed by SAMSHA’s National Registry of Evidence-based Programs & Practices. This 20-hour training is based on sound research from the Center for Trauma and Embodiment at the Justice Resource Institute in Boston. This weekend training qualifies as the prerequisite to apply for the​ 300-hour TCTSY Certification Program.

Cancelation Policy

Blossom House holds a "stay home and stay warm" policy if it is colder than -25° F. In that event, classes will be cancelled. Likewise, if there is freezing rain or heavy snow in progress, "stay home and stay safe." In the event that an event is cancelled, the facilitator will contact all participants to let them know. Barring emergencies or sudden inclement weather, at least 24-hours advanced notice will be provided. Any prepaid class that is cancelled will result in either rescheduling or a refund. Private appointments may be cancelled by clients without charge up to 24 hours before the appointment by contacting their individual facilitator directly. Individual facilitator's email information can be found on the contact page. Clients making cancellations within 24 hours of the appointment will be charged $35.
